Social Media for Organizations

This was a presentation given on June 4, 2009 for the National Safe Schools Roundtable, a coalition of organizations involved in creating LGBT-friendly educational environments. Via a prep survey, we learned that the participants were largely familiar with common tools and how they functioned, but wanted to learn more about how they could be useful for organizational work (and not just social fun). Thus, this presentation focuses on:

  • The big idea: What's so great about social media?
  • How does it benefit progressive organizations?
  • How can we use Facebook, Twitter and blogging to fulfill our mission?

Unfortunately, the audio recording didn't execute as planned, so a write-up for the slides will be added.
